In 1880s 12,000 Armenians, fleeing the massacres of the Ottoman Empire, came to find a new beginning and start a new life. Most of them settled in the industrial states of the north: New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Approximately 70 thousand Armenians live in Boston nowadays.
